As I created bespoke artworks for my customers, I began to see the power of capturing stories and telling them in new ways. I was moved by how much these pieces meant to my customers. Families and children in particular seemed to love my work, and I began to think about how I might use my creative gift to help people who really needed it.
With the seed of an idea, I took it to the social media world with the concept of creating artwork for children who were suffering life-threatening illness, disability, or were performing feats of superhuman strength. The response was overwhelming! Many families responded with their interest in being involved, and a number of other passionate creatives couldn't wait to help out. And so Little Heroes of Perth was born!
Little Heroes of Perth is now a part of Communified (Inc), a registered not-for-profit organisation that uses the power of community to improve the lives of families with children who have a serious illness or disability, while I continue to create artwork for the little heroes.
Little Heroes of Perth creates artwork to capture stories of superhuman strength in West Australian children.
We celebrate children who may be suffering life-threatening illness, disability, or who have performed superhuman feats of strength to change the lives of others.
Our aim is to bring joy to their families and inspiration to the community. It's our vision to reach every single little hero in Perth.
By sharing their stories, we hope that others will be inspired to reveal their own superpowers!
